Patricia R. Carlyle

Patricia Rea Carlyle née Atkinson of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away peacefully at age 89 on April 2, 2026. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late James W. Atkinson Jr. and of the late Helen V. Atkinson (Krogman). She is survived by her loving sister, Joan Juchs and pre-deceased by sister Doris Lombardi and brothers James Atkinson, and Joseph Atkinson.

Patricia was the beloved wife of Paul L. Carlyle, with whom she shared nearly 60 wonderful years of marriage. She was a devoted mother to Susan Hostetter (Stanley) and Steven Carlyle (Rene’) and Karen Stewart (William) and a proud and loving grandmother to Laura Kyle, the late Matthew Hostetter, Serena Carlyle, Stephanie Gurka, Kristy Beggs, and the late Ashley Stewart.

Patricia is also survived by great-grandchildren Colton, Zach, Jonathan, Makayla, Wyatt, Rory, Bexley, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Schimunek Funeral Home of Bel Air, Inc., 610 W MacPhail Rd, Bel Air, MD 21014, on Monday, April 6, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 pm. A Committal Service will take place at Highview Memorial Gardens, 3433 Fallston Rd, Fallston, MD 21047, at 1:15 pm.
