Robert E. Newman passed away on February 20th, 2026, at the age of 87. He was the beloved husband of Mary Jo Newman (née Goldsmith); devoted father of Stephen Sean Newman and Kevin Patrick Newman; dear son of the late Thurman Newman and Pauline Millhimes Newman; dear brother of the late Richard Newman and the late Donald Newman; loving grandfather of Scott Newman, Colleen Newman, and Kacey Newman. Also survived by Kathryn Elgin, Lori Brown, Katherine Benisch, and Joan Sheckells.
A visitation will take place at Schimunek Funeral Home of Bel Air, Inc., located at 610 W. MacPhail Road, Bel Air, MD, 21014 on Tuesday, February 24th, 2026, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Margaret Church, located at 141 N. Hickory Avenue Bel Air, MD, 21014 on Wednesday, February 25th, 2026, at 10am. The committal service will take place at Gardens of Faith Memorial Gardens, located at 5598 Trumps Mill Road, Baltimore, MD 21206.
