Born in Robstown, Texas, to Manuela Mendez, Juan lived a life quietly guided by faith, love, and service. In 1969, he married the love of his life, Eva Miranda, beginning a devoted partnership that would span a lifetime. After making their home in Robstown, they moved to Belton, Missouri, in 1974. There, Juan became deeply involved in his Baptist church, faithfully serving as a Deacon, song leader, and choir director. He worked for General Motors and later continued his career in security before retiring from ROM in 2018.
Juan was a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud Popo, and a treasured friend. He was blessed with a beautiful voice and a deep love for singing, joyfully using his gift to serve the Lord. He found his greatest happiness in life’s simple blessings—sharing meals, laughter, and time with his family and grandchildren. Juan’s gentle heart, generous spirit, and steady love touched everyone who knew him and will be deeply missed.
With grateful hearts, the family extends heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff at John Knox Village for the compassion, kindness, and loving care shown to our father and to our entire family.
Though our hearts ache in his absence, we find peace in knowing Juan is now home with the Lord—resting in His eternal embrace, free from pain, and reunited with his beloved wife, Eva Garcia. His life leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and kindness that will live on through all who were blessed to know him.
He is survived by his two loving daughters, Gina Garcia Aguilar and her husband, Lloyd Bartley Aguilar of Peculiar, Missouri, and Amy Ponder and her husband, Bruce Ponder, of Belton, Missouri. He was a proud Popo to five grandchildren: Adam Garcia and his wife, Morgan Garcia; Ashley Thompson; Amanda Croft; Gavin Garcia and Adrianna Bartley. He was also blessed with three great-grandchildren, Letty Croft, Olyvia Diaz, and Oaklyn Whyte.
No public services are planned. A private cremation burial will be held.
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”
