Mrs. Patricia Marie McRoy was born February 21, 1939 in Iowa City, Iowa. She passed away July 29, 2019 at the age of 80. Pat married her husband Charles James McRoy July 23, 1955 and recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.
Pat loved baking, crocheting and keep a daily journal most of her life. She was a breast cancer survivor, as well. She was a member of Belvidere Heights Baptist Church (BHBC) in Grandview, MO., and as an active member at BHBC she sang in the Choir, taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and was active with the women on missions.

Below is a portion of the Funeral Service delivered by Reverend Shawn Wallace:
She had a sense of humor and when she came across something, she would write it down.
The Christmas Stamp story:
A woman goes to the post office to get stamps for her Christmas cards, she says to the clerk may I have 50 Christmas stamps. The clerk says what denomination. The women said, God help us has it come to this? Give me 6 Catholic, 12 Presbyterian, 10 Lutheran and 22 Baptist.
Pat married the love of her life, Charles McRoy, at the age of 16. She loved doing life with this man for 64 years. Pat grew up in Iowa and Illinois before moving to Missouri. She lived all over the place and told us she had gone to 7 different schools in one year. Her father loved to move.
She was the oldest of 5 children (3 girls and 2 boys) and her two surviving siblings live in Louisiana and Florida.
She was the mother of 8 children. In her early days she worked at Merriam Labs as a temp and when they called her back to work, she was pregnant with their youngest child and unable to work. She also worked at Zarda Dairy off of 71 Highway.
Charles was transferred to Memphis, Tennessee for 7 years and upon their return to Grandview she got a job at Price Chopper in Belton where she did something that everyone enjoyed: She worked in the bakery.
She spent a couple of years fighting breast cancer and came out a survivor and during that time she never stopped baking her bread, sweets and other wonderful dinners for all to enjoy. Those items flowed out of her kitchen into most of our homes, workplaces, Church and even the Dr.’s office. If you stopped by for a visit you usually walked away with something from the kitchen...! That’s one of the various ways she shared her love.
She was a woman who loved quilting and made many for most of us! She journaled as long as I’ve known her, she even journaled when we went on vacations together. As I had the opportunity to look through some of her Journals….
During her days coming to BHBC she loved to sing in the Choir, working with kids in SS, VBS and even spent time at Belvidere Elementary reading to the kids. She also loved being part of Women on Mission at BHBC. When she was no longer able to come to Church, she looked forward to seeing Willie Wise bring the weekly Bulletin and CD’s. Recently, she spent her Sundays watching Services at the house with Pam. She loved to see the boys and Hannah leading worship at their church. She especially enjoyed Pam doing daily devotions and anyone who would read the Bible to her. She seemed to like to hear sections of my sermons before I came and preached them. She was truly a woman who loved God and I saw many of her conversations in her journals acknowledging Him and thanking him for her life, her husband and children. She definitely loved her grandchildren. She thought is was great to hear Emmy call her Grandma Great. Monday night was rough as I had just got home right before she breathed her last breath.
Pat was saved and Baptized in Springfield Mo. I believe around the same time as her husband Charles (Chicken Man) in February, 1959. That is why I can stand before you today and say without a shadow of a doubt that I will see my mother-in-law again some day because when I breath my last breath here on this earth I will be instantly in the presence of the Lord and I know that she will be there waiting for me. She got to see Her Lord this week, both sons, Jim and Donald all the other beliers in Heaven.
As a believer in Christ Pat knew that…
* Jesus is the only way to God, John 14:6.
* He is the only hope of salvation, Acts 4:12.
* He is the only door that leads to live eternal, John 10:9.
* With Him, you are saved; without Him, you are lost forever, 1 John 5:12.
Pat believed that truth and as a result,
* She was saved by His grace, Eph. 2:8-9,
* Forgiven of her sins, Eph. 1:7,
* Adopted into God’s family, Rom. 8:15,
* Changed by the power of God, 2 Cor. 5:17, and
* She’s at her new home in heaven, John 14:1-3!
“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”
Just like Pat we all have a choice to make in life. What is keeping you from trusting in Jesus today? Jesus came and died for you and He loves you.
A poem she wrote down, “I’m Free” written by Anne Lindgren Davison 1974.
Don’t grieve for me for now I’m free,
I’m following the path God laid for me
I took his hand when I heard him call,
I turned my back and left it all
I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play
Tasks left undone must stay that way,
I’ve found that peace at the close of day
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah yes, these things I too will miss
Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish for you the sunshine of tomorrow
My life’s been full, I’ve savored much,
Good friends, good times, my loved one’s touch
If my time seemed all too brief,
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your heart, rejoice with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.
