Paul Wayne Thurman

Paul was born on March 29, 1947, in Neosho, Missouri, to Hubert and Elizabeth Thurman (Robertshaw). He graduated from Ruskin High School in 1965. Following graduation, Paul enlisted in the United States Navy, serving on the USS Newport News, the Flagship of the 7th Fleet. He is also a veteran of the Vietnam War. He married his first wife, Janice, in 1966 and had 3 children, Paul W. Thurman II, Jeffrey C. Thurman, and Sarah M. Perkins (Thurman). Paul married his second wife, Sherry, who gave birth to Nicholas Thurman. Paul met and married his soul mate, Lori, in 1994 and they had 1 child, Kyler B. Thurman.

Paul was a quiet man who treasured his time with his family. He loved to work with his hands, whether it was designing beautiful floral arrangements or making jewelry and tinkering with old watches. Paul loved going to community fairs to sell his jewelry, and he also enjoyed attending auctions.

Paul is predeceased by both of his parents, nephews David John and Joshua, and stepdaughter, Kimmy. He is survived by his wife, Lori Thurman, brother David Thurman of Belton, MO, sister Sheryl Thurman of Belton, MO, son Paul Thurman II and his wife Penny of Grain Valley, MO, son Jeffrey Thurman and his wife Mindy of Columbus, OH, daughter Sarah Perkins and her husband, Brandon of Pleasant Hill, MO, son Nicholas Thurman of Springfield, MO, son Kyler Thurman of Mesa, AZ, stepdaughter Kindra Schnoover and her husband Chad of Albany, OR, stepson Joseph Greene of Harrisonville, MO, stepson Kevin Greene of Belton, MO, and 22 grandchildren: Kearston, Kylee, Hunter, Jadyn, Brooklyn, Wyatt, Duncan, Audrey, Sydney, Harrison, Luka, Makayla, Sierra, Nekka, Marissa, Crewe, Crossley, Blake, Brody, Jace, Taylin, and Mikey.

A visitation service will be held on Monday, February 14, 2022, from 6:00-7:30 pm at McGilley and George Funeral Home, 611 Chestnut, Belton, MO. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at 10:30 am at McGilley and George Funeral Home in Belton. The graveside service will take place at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Higginsville, 20109 Bus, MO-13, Higginsville, MO.
