Andres “Andy” Julian Lahera, 53, was a devoted husband, father, community servant, and loyal friend. He passed away far too soon on September 11, 2025, following more than two years of courageously battling to recover from injuries sustained when he was struck by a car on May 23, 2023. Andy will always be remembered for his relentless spirit, his unwavering drive, and his determination to keep fighting until his very last day.
Born on June 25, 1972, in New York, New York, Andy grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 1999, he married the love of his life, Michelle, and together they built a beautiful life, raising their two beloved sons, Nicholas and Vincent. Their happiest moments were spent together as a family—whether kayaking, going to the movies, or visiting theme parks. Andy’s greatest joy was found in being present with those he loved most.
Andy’s life was defined by service. After moving to Citrus County, Florida, he served as a School Resource Officer with the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, where he left an enduring impact on countless children, colleagues, and community members alike through his guidance, kindness, and even his incredible origami skills. He carried out his work with a servant’s heart, a legacy now enshrined in Florida’s Deputy Andy Lahera Act.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Michelle Lahera, and their sons, Nicholas and Vincent. He was preceded in death by his cherished mother-in-law, Letizia Brugnano. Andy will be remembered by friends and family for his humility, his jovial spirit, and his infectious laugh.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at Seven Rivers Church, 4221 W Gulf to Lake Hwy, Lecanto, Florida 34461. The Lahera family extends heartfelt gratitude to our remarkable community and to the compassionate care teams whose support carried them through this journey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Andy Lahera Perseverance & Community Spirit Scholarship Fund with the Citrus County Education Foundation. Andy’s legacy of strength, service, and love will live on in all who had the honor of knowing him.
Services entrusted to Fero Funeral Home & Life Celebration Center, Beverly Hills, FL.
