Christina L. Burns

Christina L. Burns, 89, of Dunnellon, FL, passed away on Fri., Jan. 16, 2015 at Munroe Regional Medical Center, Ocala, FL. A native of Olean, NY, she was born Dec. 19, 1925 to William and Elizabeth (Cashmere) Lundy, one of two children. Christina moved to Dunnellon in 1985 from Mount Laurel, NJ and was a lifelong homemaker, worked at New York Bell Telephone Co, served as President of the Women’s Auxiliary at Garden State Community Hospital in Marlton, NJ and a longtime active parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Dunnellon, FL. She recently was elected the Palm Garden Council President at Palm Garden of Ocala, where she had been residing for the past five years. Mrs. Burns was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, the late Jack A. Burns, on Dec. 20, 2002; a daughter, the late Judith Schiffer, and a brother, the late Robert Lundy. She is survived by son Mark J. Burns (Geraldine), Elverson, PA; daughter Elizabeth “Betsy” Houseworth (Tom), of Dunnellon; son Thomas A. Burns (Terri), Mount Laurel, NJ; her eight grandchildren: Courtney D. Keen (Andrew), Russell C. Burns (Jaime), and William E. Burns, all of Pennsylvania; Justin M. Schiffer, Spring Hill, FL; Todd R. Patterson (Casey), Ocala, FL; and Christine M. Louis, Kelli A. Burns and Thomas A. Burns II, all of Mount Laurel, NJ and seven great grandchildren Kylie, Quentin, Liam, Luke, Taylor, Ameya and Owen. Friends will be received on Thurs., Jan. 22, 2015 from 4 – 7 P.M. at Fero Funeral Home, Beverly Hills, FL. with wake service at 6:30 P.M. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Fri., Jan. 23, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Dunnellon, FL with Fr. Jean Desir, Celebrant.
