Born on August 9, 1930, in Bayonne, New Jersey, Dolores lived a life filled with love, faith, and service. In 1950, she married John Joseph Glade while he was stationed in Texas during the Korean War. Together, they built a family rooted in strength, devotion, and compassion.
She is survived by her five children: Michael (Zita), John "Jack" (Christine), Virginia Richardson (Lawrence), Kenneth (Maryann), and Peter (Briana); her seven grandchildren: Joanne, Rusty, Sandy, Nicole Goskowski (Darren), Alyssa, Christopher, and Will; and her four great-grandchildren: Tyler and Kaden (sons of Joanne) and Benjamin and Colin (sons of Nicole). She is also survived by her beloved sister, Mary Ann Pennypacker. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Birkner.
Over the decades, Dee called many places home—New Jersey, Texas, New Jersey, Michigan, New York, West Virginia, Florida, and finally New Jersey again, where she spent her final days. No matter where she lived, she brought warmth and grace with her.
Dolores was a devoted Roman Catholic and lifelong volunteer, giving her time generously to church and hospital ministries. She served on the Board of the St. Petersburg Diocesan Council of Catholic Women and as president of the women’s club at Our Lady of Grace Church in Beverly Hills, Florida. She also worked outside the home at Howland’s department store in Suffern, NY, and in several banks in Charleston, WV.
A talented seamstress, quilter, and knitter, Dolores lovingly crafted christening gowns and handmade gifts that will be treasured for generations. She was an avid student of World War II history and embraced modern technology with enthusiasm—engaging with family on Facebook, reading on her Kindle, and navigating her smartphone with ease.
Dolores was the heart and hub of her far-flung family, keeping loved ones connected from Hawaii to Washington, Vermont, New Jersey, and Virginia. Her warmth, generosity, and faith-filled spirit touched countless lives.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
