Paul and I were saddened to hear that Bob had died. We met Bob through Connie about 18 years ago0 when they let me adopt their 2 shelties Ty and Abbie. And no matter where they were he would say bring the dogs and come to visit. The friendship will always continue but his humor will be missed. Paul can't keep saying lets go get Connie whatever she needs. Bob is loved and missed.

I met Bob at the Far East Network in Tokyo in Nov 1963. He was a seasoned radio announcer and I was assigned to the news room as a writer after graduating from US Navy Journalist school. When I was asked to help with reading the news on the air at the time of the JFK assassination, Bob was there to encourage me. As time went on he encouraged and tutored me in the art of operating the control board, which helped me to switch to becoming a staff announcer. He was a consummate professional and I valued his friendship. I found him and others from that wonderful time in early 2006 on the website dedicated to FEN and enjoyed his humorous emails ever since. I offer my profound respect for him and condolences to his family.

I was saddened to hear that Bob had passed.  I also met Bob at Far East Network Tokyo in about 1962.  I was an audio engineer and often worked master Control during Bob's broadcast.  I have never forgotten Bob.  I remember him as a very nice man with a great sense of humor.  I have never forgotten him.  One day when I was signing in at the beginning of my shift, Bob noted that my name was John D.  Being from the south, he told me that if I were from the south, I would go by my initials, J.D.  He started giving me credits at the end of his shift as J.D.  I never used the name then, but when I went to my next assignment in 1965, I told people that I was J.D.  I have used that name ever since, about 50 years now.  I have told many people that story over the years.  That is just one of the many reasons I remember Bob. I first met Bob Beck in 1963 when we were serving our country overseas in Tokyo, Japan.  We were working in radio at the Far East Network.  His great humor and kindness will never be forgotten.  Later in life, I looked forward every morning to receiving his wonderful jokes and one-liners via emails.  He was truly a Man For All Seasons, and a true friend to all who knew him.  The world was a better place because of his presence in it.  Rest well, Bob.  You were a dear dear human being.

Rhonda and I are deeply saddened by the loss that you and your entire family have encountered. Our hearts go out to you during this trying time and may our prayers serve as comfort to you and your loved ones.

I first met Bob some 55 years ago in Tokyo and have never forgotten the man. His humor and wit were infectious and he made the world a better place. My profound sympathy to Bob's widow and family.

Karen and I offer our condolences for your loss. You know how much Bob meant to us and how much I as PECA president valued his counsel and advice. In side his funny exterior there was a heart of gold and now we will miss much of the beautiful things we shared via email and the military yarns we used to swap.
