
On the afternoon of Tuesday, June 27th, 2017, Jim passed away at the Palmetto Hospice House with his two daughters Debra Gregory and Larree Saxe and his son-in–law, John Gregory at his side. He was 89 years of age.
Jim was born in La Fayette, Georgia in 1928 but spent most of his young years in Hixson, Tennessee until joining the Navy. While stationed in Washington, D.C. he met his wife of 64 years on a “blind date.” His wife, Warrene Katherine “Kit” predeceased Jim five years earlier on May 15, 2012, Jim never recovered from her loss.
He was also predeceased by his oldest child and only son, James Dewey Youngblood Jr., on September 9, 2015.
Jim is survived by his three daughters and sons-in law Gail and Jack Macomber, Debra and John Gregory and Larree Marie Saxe; grandchildren, James Youngblood III, Damien Macomber, Mare Newton, Emma Gregory, Sara Gregory; and four great grandchildren, Ava Grace, Quinn, Jessica, and Leah.
His surviving siblings are Ralph Youngblood and wife Imogene, Marlene Coffelt, Linda Claunch and Mickey Youngblood and wife Gina.
Jim was known for his work ethic as a civil engineer for Satcom Ft. Monmouth New Jersey, his great golf game and his quick wit!
He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
