Her parents founded Empire Seafood in Birmingham where Ann worked and would eventually own with her siblings until selling in 1996. It was at Empire that she would meet and fall in love with Angelo LaRock. They married on Jan. 16, 1951 at the Cathedral of St Paul in Birmingham where she was a lifelong member.
Ann had a zest for life. She lived every day to its fullest. Dancing, cooking, baking, sewing and knitting were just a few of her hobbies. She was a dedicated volunteer at St. Vincent’s Hospital for over 25 years, serving in many different capacities. Her favorite was making bows for the doors of the newborn babies. She also loved making stockings for the December babies. She loved to go out dancing and was a member of the Concordia Dance Club. More than anything, Ann enjoyed entertaining family and friends at her home. She paid close attention to detail when it came to her menu and table settings for every occasion. She was a remarkable chef and hostess.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents FranK and Nellie (Lovoy) Madonia, brothers Frank, Joe, and Emanuel Madonia, sister Providence DiPede, daughter Luann LaRock and former husband Angelo LaRock.
She is survived by her sons Joe LaRock (Connie), Pat LaRock (Patty), daughter Maria Abrams and sister in law Jere Madonia, 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday Feb. 27, 2024 from 12:00-2:00 at Elmwood chapel with funeral service and burial to follow. There will be a reception at Regency Summit Condominium following the funeral.
