Argus Barnes Martin, Jr. went home to be with the Lord on December 31, 2020. Barnes was born in Ozark, Alabama on June 15, 1928 to Argus Barnes Martin, Sr. and Prilly Tee Baldwin Martin. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Louis Martin. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Helen Lynn Cosper Martin; brothers Anson Martin (Susan) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Noel Martin (Sharon), of Camilla, Georgia; and sister in-law, June Martin of Ozark, Alabama.
When Barnes graduated at the age of 18, it was at the close of WWII. He joined the Army Corps of Engineers and was stationed in Berlin during the Airlift. When his time with the Army came to an end, he began to attend Auburn University on the GI Bill, where he majored in Engineering. Upon his graduation from Auburn, he went to work with the Birmingham Waterworks, as an Engineer, where he retired.
When he was 40 years, old a coworker witnessed to him about what Jesus had done for all of us. That night Barnes went home and gave his life to the Lord. Four years later, he met and married a lady that loved the Lord just as much as he did. Barnes and Lynn were married for 47 wonderful and blessed years.
