Aubrey served a wide array of companies throughout his work career beginning with A&P Tea Company, O.Z. Hall Motors, and Hill Grocery Company. He began his professional career in 1956 with Arnold, Keller & Smith CPAs, then as a CPA with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Company in 1958. The bulk of his career was spent serving Birmingham Trust National Bank and Southtrust Corporation, from which he retired in 1998.
Aubrey served our country in the 117th Tactical Reconnaissance Wing National Guard Reserve of the U.S. Air Force from 1961-1964, and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant.
He also joyfully & faithfully served in many capacities at McElwain Baptist Church and Meadowbrook Baptist Church for many years.
Aubrey never met a stranger, but his most sincere passions were serving our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and loving his precious family, including his loving wife of 67 years.
Aubrey is pre-deceased by his father, Aubrey Dee Barnard of Birmingham; and his mother, Minnie Friesner. He is survived by wife, Ruby Tollett Barnard; son, David A. Barnard (Melissa); daughter, Carol B. Moultrie (Phillip); and four grandchildren, Josh Barnard, Garrick Moultrie, Elizabeth Moultrie, and Catherine Nelson (Drake).
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 4th at 1 PM, at Meadowbrook Baptist Church, followed by a brief service of worship and celebration of Aubrey’s life at 2 PM.
