Barbara “Bobbie” Tice Steele, 75, passed away February 20, 2014. She was born and raised in North Carolina. After attending design school in New York, she returned to Greensboro NC, where she worked at Belk’s as a fashion coordinator. While working at Belk’s, she met her eternal companion, James (Pat) Patrick Steele (1936-2006), and were married shortly thereafter.
After getting married Bobbie had three children, Bobbye Hyde (Kameron), Anne Anderson (Steve), and Pat. In 1964 she joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In 1970 Bobbie, Pat, and their children were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City, Utah temple.
In 1978, Bobbie and her family moved to Birmingham. In 1987, she graduated from Jefferson State University with an Accounting degree. She returned to work alongside Pat, working as an auditor with Howard Schultz and Associates, retiring in 2002.
After retirement, she spent time in church service, attending the LDS Temple in Gardendale, and visiting her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her brother, sister, three children and nine grandchildren. She was beloved by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held on February 26 at 11:00 am, with visitation at 10:00 am at Johns-Ridout's Elmwood Chapel.
