BERNARD “BERNIE” S. VAUGHAN, JR., age 89 of Irondale, went home to be with Jesus and his Angel, Jeanie on Friday, June 25, 2021. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jeanie Fortenberry Vaughan. He is survived by his daughter, Deborah Vaughan Caporaso (Enrico); sister, Marian Love Shook; grandchildren, Nancy C. Atchley (Jeremy), Monica C. Melton (Scotty) and Enrico Anthony Caporaso (Aman); and great-grandchildren, Clara Atchley, Joanna Atchley, Sydney Lee, Maddy Melton, Caroline Melton and Tucker Melton. Bernie was born in Virginia and moved to Alabama at age 14. He met Jeanie and married her on March 14, 1951 and they were together until her death in 1998. Bernie served in the U.S. Army during Korea and then retired from the United States Postal Service. He loved to fish, hunt and Alabama Football but most of all, he loved his family. He will be remembered as the best father and grandfather ever. There will be a graveside service on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Forest Crest Cemetery beginning at 2:00.
