Charlcie C. Giles

Charlcie Elizabeth Giles, age 76, daughter of Charles Preston Cross and Lorene Caffee Cross, passed away after a brief illness on September 22, 2016 in Birmingham, Alabama. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Dwight A. Giles; a son Charles Hobson Giles, Jennifer Langston, her granddaughters Olivia Anne Giles and Vivianne Giles.

Mrs. Giles was a graduate of Howard College, taught in the Jefferson County and the Birmingham School system for a number of years and had many wonderful memories from the students that she taught.

She was a faithful Christian attending McElwain Baptist Church for over 40 years. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years and dearly loved the members of her classes. She served in many different positions at McElwain Baptist as a faithful worker and kindergarten teacher. She loved to participate in team sports at McElwain in addition to playing team tennis at Highland Park Racquet Club. Mrs. Giles was Vice-president and an active participant in Insurance Systems of Alabama for over 25 years helping thousands of people in obtaining their insurance licenses.

Any one that ever met Mrs. Giles would agree she was a lovable person with a personality that you would not soon forget.

Services for Mrs. Giles will be held at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel Friday, September 23, 2016 with a viewing from 5:30 PM until 8:00 Pm. Services will be held at McElwain Baptist Church at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 24, 2016 with final interment at Welti Presbyterian Church in Cullman, Alabama at 2:00 on Saturday.
