

Mr. Charles "Charlie" Jaynes of Birmingham, AL went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the age of 92. Charles was a faithful follower of Christ and long-standing member and deacon of Huffman Baptist Church. Charles was born on September 20, 1926 in Ethelsville, AL to the late Mary Ellen and Leander Jaynes. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Emily Ann (Weaver) Jaynes. Charles was a proud veteran of the United States Army and retired from U.S. Pipe and Foundry after 45 years of service. He also served as a long-standing president of the East Lake Lions Club. His favorite past times included watching Alabama Football, cheering on the Jacksonville Suns, fishing in Hawkins Pond, and spending time with his beloved family. Charles enjoyed telling stories of his childhood growing up on the farm. He is survived by his children David (Sherry)Watterson, Hank (Celeste) Duncan, Harold Jaynes, Doug Duncan (David), Mike (Caroline) Jaynes, and Kim (Jordy) Henson, and his sister Doris (Jerry) Neil; Papaw, Papa, and Grandpa to 18 grandchildren; and Great-Granddaddy to 31 great-grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Laverne, Boyd, Bobby, and Larry; and his sisters Hortense Lollar and Margie Brooks. Charles is remembered by all for his loyal and determined devotion to following Jesus Christ, which was reflected in his character and all aspects of his life. Loving, patient, gentle, funny, encouraging, and hard-working. Visitation 10 A.M at Huffman Baptist Church with service at 11 A.M on Wednesday, February 27.
