

Charles graduated from Phillips High School and Auburn University School of Pharmacy. He loved Auburn sports, loved to laugh, play golf and read. Family was everything to him and he enjoyed taking part in the lives of his children and grandchildren. He was fondly known and loved in the community as ‘Doc Prickett’. He was a true child of God who honored his Lord daily.
Charles was the First President of American Pharmacy Cooperative and Board member Emeritus; a Past President of Alabama Pharmacy Association and Jefferson County Pharmacy Association; a Bowl of Hygeia award for outstanding community service in Pharmacy, 1975; he received recognition from Samford University for Preceptor of the Year, 1979; the National Association of Retail Druggists Pharmacy Leadership Award, 1991; the Distinguished Alumnus Award Auburn School of Pharmacy 1983; the National Pharmacy Leadership Award Auburn University 1986; and was an Eagle Scout.
Charles was a former Sunday School Teacher and member of Shades Mountain Baptist Church. He volunteered in the activities his children were involved in. He also served on numerous community boards. Charles founded Eastern Valley Drugs in 1967 and Medical Center Pharmacy in 1986.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Dewitt Prickett and Gartrell Fidela Harbour Prickett. Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Shirley Elizabeth Boutwell Prickett; three children, Kerry Prickett (Nancy), Kenneth Prickett (Judy), and Cheryl Prickett Bailey (Paul); brother, Bill Prickett; brother in-law, Jim Boutwell; grandchildren, Samantha Bailey, Andrew Prickett (Ellis), Jonathan Prickett, Jade Bailey, Mary Elizabeth Prickett, and Anna Prickett; niece, Michael Ann Staggs; and nephew, Jeff Prickett.
The family would like to thank Hope Hospice and Lipford Home Care for the excellent care provided to Charles and his family during the last few weeks.
A with a visitation will be held at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel on Saturday, March 23, 2024 from 10am until 11am with a Celebration of Life to follow.
