Charlotte Smith Kyser of Birmingham, Alabama attended Birmingham Southern College and was a member of Vestavia Hills Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Clayton Kyser; son, David Thomas Kyser, parents, James Calvin Smith, Sr., and Mary Howe Smith; sisters, Martha Elizabeth Smith and Mary Ruth Smith Bailey; and grandson, Jackson Louis Godfrey.
She is survived by her daughter, Ellen Kyser Godfrey (Dennis); grandsons, Wesley Calvin Ross, and Jonathan David Symonds; granddaughter, Katie Williams Ross; great granddaughter, Florence Anne Ross; great grandson, Clayton Rush Symonds; brother, James Calvin Smith, Jr., Ph.D. (Elizabeth); and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel on Thursday, December 5, 2024 from 1 pm until 2 pm; followed by funeral services and burial at Elmwood Cemetery at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Children’s Harbor (childrensharbor.com), St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (StJude.org), Shelby County Humane Society (Shelbyhumane.org) or a favorite charity.
