

Charlotte Ann Hanson Siegwart, age 93, passed away in Birmingham on Sunday, March 16, 2025 with her children by her side. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Carl George Hanson and Gladys Morrison Hanson.
She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Dr. John Thomas Siegwart and three brothers: Carl George Hanson, Jr., Daniel Hanson, and Franklin Delano Hanson. She is survived by her son, Dr. John Thomas Siegwart, Jr.; her daughter, Mary Elizabeth Siegwart Gadilhe (Michael); three grandchildren, Charlotte Elizabeth Gadilhe Gallagher (Adam), Laura Anna Gadilhe Noble, Joseph Michael Gadilhe (Sarah); and one great grandchild, Georgia Ann Gadilhe.
Charlotte attended St. Thomas Catholic School in Memphis through tenth grade and finished high school at St. Agnes Academy. She attended Memphis State for one year before marrying in 1953. She and John lived in New Orleans, Indianapolis, Montevallo, and Birmingham. She returned to college at age 44 and graduated from Birmingham-Southern College with a degree in Early Childhood Education.
She and John returned to Memphis in 1978 where she earned a Montessori teaching certificate at Lausanne School. She was skilled at many hobbies. Foremost, was her love of flowers as she spent countless hours tending to her beautiful flower beds. Other favorites included origami, calligraphy, handmade greeting cards, decorating miniature Christmas trees, making angels out of hankerchiefs, and decorating cakes.
Her grandchildren have many fond memories of creative activities with her during their visits to Memphis. She was a loving caregiver to her brother, Dan, other family members and several neighbors. She was an angel of generous caring spirit who will be greatly missed.
A visitation for Charlotte will be held Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Holy Infant of Prague Catholic Church, 8090 Gadsden Hwy, Trussville, AL 35173, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Memphis next to her beloved husband.
