

Chester “Lee” Twilley, age 89 from Springville, Alabama entered Heaven's Gates on January 25, 2026. Lee was now a resident of Trussville, Alabama living with his daughter, Paula Benyo and son-in-law, Bill since 2020.
Lee was a retired truck driver. He owned and operated his own trucking company, hauling across country in early years to hauling local freight around Birmingham, Alabama.
Lee was one of 15 children born to James Franklin Twilley and Mary Martha Givens Twilley February 17, 1936 in Cullman County Alabama. They moved to the Boldo-Jasper area of Walker County where he lived until age 13 when he left home to travel to West Hollywood, Florida to live with family. After 18 years, Lee returned to the Springville area where he met and married Willie Mathews Walker on February 11, 1972 making her now Willie Twilley. They were married 47 years until Willie’s passing.
Lee was preceded in death by parents, Frank and Mary Twilley; wife, Willie; 13 brothers and sisters and their spouses. His grandson, Will Benyo, son-in-law, David Jarrett, and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
Lee is survived by his children, Paula Walker Benyo (Bill) who have also been his caregivers for the past 6+ years and Pamela Walker New (Dexter) and Johnny Walker. Grandchildren, Jason Leopard, Bridgette Fruge’ (Stephen), Alexandria Shook (Jacob), Cody Leopard (Chenoa), Joshua Walker (Crystal), April Okon (Thomas), Wade Lumpkin (Kati); great grandchildren, Aiden and Asher Leopard, Noah and Elijah Fruge’, Benjamin, Sophia and Remington Shook, Dasen and Sage Yokoyama, Braden, Kaila, Emery, Casius, Lakota Leopard, Houston and Adleigh Walker, Maddie and Peyton Okon and Tucker Lumpkin. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
Thank you to Amedisys Hospice, especially his primary nurse Morgan, who helped me walk through these last two weeks.
Thank you to Tammy Gulledge who sat with Lee when I had to be out of town or I needed some time with family. She loved and cared for him like he was her own dad so I had no worries and could enjoy my time.
Thank you to my three children, in-laws, grandchildren, Joe Whitten, and the “Over the Hill Gang”. To Lee’s last surviving sibling and wife, Bill and Peggy Twilley and my sister Pam, thank you all for keeping in touch and checking on him and for being an active part of his life. Thank you to his church family that kept him in your prayers while he was unable to attend services in the last couple of years.
Officiating the service will be Pastor Chip Thornton.
Pallbearers: William Benyo, Jason Leopard, Aiden Leopard, Stephen Fruge, Noah Fruge, Elijah Fruge, Jacob Shook, Adam Twilley.
Honorary Pallbearers: Asher Leopard, Dexter New, Houston Walker and “Over the Hill Gang”.
Funeral services will be Monday, February 2, 2026 at Ridout’s Trussville. Visitation will be held at 10am with services beginning at 11am.Family members’ visitation at 9am. After service we will conclude at the cemetery in Springville Alabama.
