Curtis O’Neil Doles, Jr.

Curtis O’Neil Doles, Jr., known to family and friends as Curt, passed away on February 5, 2026, at the age of 70. He was born on December 20, 1955, in Birmingham, Alabama, to the late Curtis O’Neil Doles, Sr. and Kathleen Hurst Waites.

Curt was raised in Midfield, Alabama, where he graduated from Midfield High School. He later worked as a groundskeeper at Valhalla Cemetery, a job that suited his quiet nature and strong sense of responsibility. Curt was not a man who spoke often about his feelings, but he showed his love in steady, dependable ways. Those who knew him best will remember his loyalty, his gentle presence, and the mischievous grin that said more than words ever could.

Jeanine was the love of Curt’s life. For more than thirty years, they shared a deep and devoted partnership, rarely apart and always side by side. He loved her faithfully and without hesitation. He loved his stepchildren as his own and was always there when it mattered, offering support, patience, and a steady hand through life’s ups and downs.

Curt found his greatest joy in his grandchildren. Time spent with them meant everything to him, and they brought out his softer, playful side. He was happiest in simple moments—watching Alabama football on fall Saturdays, NASCAR races on Sundays, or spending quiet time in the woods during hunting season. He loved being outdoors and had a special place in his heart for animals, especially cats.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Herschell C. Doles and Hetty Short Doles; his father, Curtis O’Neil Doles, Sr.; his sister, Debra Doles; and his stepson, Johnny Weekley.

Curt leaves behind his beloved wife, Jeanine Doles; his stepchildren, Austin (Amber) Weekley and Danyell (Steven) Glosson; and his cherished grandchildren, Kylen, Bailyanne, and Coltyn, along with Madilyn Elizabeth, who is expected to arrive any day and whom he was so looking forward to meeting. He is also survived by his siblings, Paul Doles; Jody Doles (Bernadette); Cody Doles (Maggie); Misty Doles Busic (Mark); and Joshua Doles (Jessica), along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him deeply.

Visitation for Curt will be held at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel (800 Dennison Ave SW Birmingham, AL 35211) on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. A graveside service will take place at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Highland Memorial Gardens in Bessemer, Alabama.

Curt will be remembered as a quiet, loyal man who loved deeply, showed up when it counted, and left a lasting mark on the people who were fortunate enough to know him.
