Curtis Eugene Faggard of Irondale was born July 2, 1949 and passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at the age of 69. Eugene was a wonderful and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He enjoyed and began working in the construction business when he was 15 years old and later retired as a building inspector for the City of Birmingham with 18 years of service. Eugene was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp and proudly fought for his country in the Vietnam War. He was a longtime member of the Walkers Chapel Methodist Church in Fultondale, Al. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Thomas Faggard and Mattie Lou Faggard; and a sister, Vivian Diane Clements and her husband, Hayden Ronnie Clements; a siter-in-law, Ruth Ann Faggard. Eugene is survived by his wife of 48 years, Denise S. Faggard; a daughter, Kristi R. Faggard; grandsons, James Kurtis Faggard and Kameron Blane Faggard; brother, Jesse Oliver “Sonny” Faggard; brothers-in-law, Jesse Sprayberry and Wayne Sprayberry; sister-in-law, Judy Worthington; his dog and best friend, “Coal”; a host of nieces and nephews; best friends since childhood, Bonnie Browning and Carolyn Hicks; and many endearing friendships from his “brothers” he served with.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 15th from 5 to 8 PM followed by graveside services at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL on Thursday, May 16th with U.S. Marine Corp Honors beginning at 11:45 AM. The family requests any memorials or donations please be made to their favorite charity.
