

WASHINGTON, DENNIS DURELL, age 49 of Gadsden, gained his heavenly home on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 after a yearlong battle with Leukemia. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Stacy Washington; parents, Jimmie and Patsy Washington; daughters, Morgan Washington Wiley (Grant) and Katelyn Washington (Preston Hunt); sister, Tammie Washington; parents in love, Larry and Rita Morgan; and sister-in-law, Lori Parker. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Jeff Morgan. Dennis was a Christian. He was a faithful deacon at Deerfoot Church of Christ. He used his talents to spread the word of God through helping countless churches setup live streaming throughout the world. Dennis spent his time as a board member of both Exposure Youth Camp and Maywood Christian Camp and loved spending time with the children. Dennis loved rocking babies to sleep and thought he was the “baby whisperer”. He loved meteorology and worked for WBRC Fox 6 for 18 years and currently worked for Alabama Power as Multimedia Communications Specialist. His greatest love was spending time with his family, especially on cruises enjoying the 24 hour pizza and ice cream. In his spare time he enjoyed wildlife photography. His family will celebrate his life with visitation of Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 1:00 – 3:00 at Deerfoot Church of Christ with his service beginning at 3:00. A private graveside will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society in honor of his courageous battle against Leukemia.
