Donald Travis Parker, 87, passed away early Monday morning, October 18, 2021 at his home with his family by his side. He was born August 18, 1934 in Birmingham, Alabama. He is survived by his wife, Margaret "Cricket" Parker, who shared 66 years with him in a loving and committed marriage. He is also survived by his daughters; Connie Parker Hobson (Will) of Louisville, KY and Donna Parker Ivy (Jim) of Birmingham, AL., grandson; Lieutenant Commander Willis "Wick" Hobson of the U.S. Navy (Kim), grandson; Parker Hobson of Louisville, KY.,granddaughter; Peyton Hobson (Chris Butz) of Louisville, KY.,granddaughter; Mandy Ivy of Birmingham, AL., granddaughter; Maggie Ivy of Birmingham, AL., and two great-grandchildren; Wolf Hobson and Mary Hobson (Wick and Kim Hobson, parents).
Don Parker graduated from Phillips High School of Birmingham, Alabama, and then received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Birmingham Southern College. He went on to serve as an officer and fighter pilot with the U.S. Marine Corps and then the reserves with the Air National Guard and then the U.S. Air Force. Don then became very successful in the career of medical sales.
His family will like to thank Compassus Hospice of Birmingham for making it possible to bring him home from the hospital to be with his family. Don will be remembered in a private family ceremony.
