Doris Jean Best, Age 78 of Hoover, AL passed away on September 19, 2015. Doris was an employee at Wimberly & Thomas Hardware Co. where she met Robert, her husband of 57 years. She then worked at Dunn Construction for over 25 years until she retired. Doris was a member of Berney Points Baptist Church for over 50 years where she taught Pre-K Sunday School for over 20 years and was a member in the church choir. She was a very devout Christian, loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Best, her parents, Bernard and Hattie McCoy Sharp, her sisters Blanche Hearn, Dorothy Sharp, and Vena Mae White, her brother, Allen Sharp, Daughter-in-law Marlane Best and numerous Brother-in-laws and Sister-in-laws. She is survived by her two children, Harlan Best and Regina Barnhardt, Son-in-law, Tim Barnhardt and three Grandchildren, Morgan Barnhardt, Maddi Barnhardt and Christina Best. She is also survived by her Sister and Brother-in-law’s, Linda and Buddy Whitaker and Leon White, her Brother’s and Sister-in-law’s, Donald and Carolyn Sharp, Billy and Ruth Sharp and Edsina Best as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive visitors at Elmwood Chapel on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm with funeral services following at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
