It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, mentor, and friend, Earnest (Jimmy) Wade, who left this world on January 9, 2025. He was a man of extraordinary kindness, unwavering strength, and unconditional love—a guiding light for all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Jimmy was married to his high school sweetheart, Violet Hartley, for 54 wonderful years, sharing a lifetime of love, laughter, and unwavering commitment. He dedicated 21 years of his life as a Birmingham firefighter, serving his community with courage and selflessness. During his time as a firefighter, he became a respected business owner in the HVAC field, a career that spanned over 50 years.
Jimmy was more than just a husband and a father; he was a best friend, a businessman, and a lifelong source of inspiration. He taught the values of compassion, resilience, and selfless love, lessons that will be carried on by his family and all who knew him. His presence filled every room with warmth, his laughter brought joy, and his wisdom provided comfort in life’s most challenging moments.
Jimmy is survived by his devoted wife, Violet Wade, his cherished daughter, Christi Wade, Jana Fields, sister Gail (James) Cherry and extended Milazzo family. While the void he leaves behind feels impossible to fill, his legacy will endure in the hearts of those who loved him. His kindness touched countless lives, and the love he gave so freely will continue to inspire.
He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation be made to the Shelby County Humane Society in Jimmy's memory.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 25, 2025 from 3:00 to 6:00pm with a recognition of life starting at 5:00pm at The Carriage House at Park Crest Event Facility in Hoover, AL.
