

Ethel Grace Alexander Sigmon, age 91 of Birmingham passed away Friday, March 19, 2021. She was born and raised in Birmingham. After graduating in 1947 from Ensley High School, she began working at First National Bank. She married Howard Sigmon on June 4, 1954 and later welcomed two children into the world. Ethel Grace devoted her life to raising, supporting, and nurturing Cathey and Jeff. She was an active member first at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church and then at First Baptist Church of Birmingham. She taught Children’s Sunday School for years and was very active in WMU. She was the most devoted wife, Mom, and Grandmother. Once children were headed to college, she returned to the banking world. She was a loyal employee at First Alabama Bank and helped with transitioning her department as they joined forces with Regions Bank. Ethel Grace retired from Region’s Bank in 1994. She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Howard Sigmon. Survivors include her daughter, Cathey Sigmon Ritter (Rich); son, Jeffrey Alan Sigmon (Tammie); grandchildren: Richard Tyler Ritter (Cristina), Christopher Charles Ritter, Casey Noal Ritter (Alissa) and Jessica Morgan Sigmon Wallace (Jacob); great grandchild, Isla Isabella Ritter. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until service time at the funeral home.
