GILL, EUGENE "MIKE", age 67, of McCalla, walked with Jesus to God's Kingdom on Wednesday December 7, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mike was born to the late Mary and Eugene W. Gill in January 15, 1944 in Beaver Falls, PA. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Paul Gill and sister, Eugenie Gill. Mike is survived by his wife of 34 years, Carol, daughter Sonya Lankford (Mike), three grandchildren; Mike Lankford Jr., Josh Lankford (Kim) and Rachael Smalley (Richard), two great grandchildren; Makenzie Lankford and Trillian Smalley, his special pets; Pepper, Charlotte and Lucy, friends, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was a member of Episcopal Church of St. Francis of Assisi. The family requested donations to the Episcopal Church of St. Francis of Assisi or The American Cancer Society . The family also wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. James Lasker and all the professional medical staff. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at The Episcopal Church of St. Francis of Assisi at 11:00am, with visitation one hour prior. The address to the church is 3545 Cahaba Valley Rd, Indian Springs, Al 35124. The Rev. Neil Kaminski will be officiating service.
