Florence Louise McConnell Rosdick went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 16, 2020, after battling dementia for several years. Although everyone who was blessed enough to love Florence and call her “friend” will miss her here on earth, all of Heaven is rejoicing as she now has no pain and a clear mind. Jesus must have wanted her at His birthday celebration!
Florence was born on October 1, 1923 in Birmingham and lived there most of her life. It was there she met Julian Thomas Rosdick on a blind date and was married in 1940. They were active members of McCoy Methodist Church and Shades Mountain Independent Church in Birmingham. They loved to go square dancing and Florence enjoyed ceramics, working in the yard, and keeping an immaculate home which was frequented by the entire family for every holiday. Florence and Julian moved to Powder Springs, GA in 2000 where Julian passed away in 2002. Florence stayed in Georgia until 2016 when she moved to San Antonio, TX. It was there she passed away while living in New Haven Memory Care in Schertz, TX.
Florence is survived by her son Julian Thomas Rosdick II and his wife Becky, daughter Donna Caren Rosdick Lea and her husband Luke, daughter Robin Jolane Rosdick Hauf and her husband Rick and Robin’s beloved ex-husband Steven Hale. Florence also left behind eight loving grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Florence is pre-deceased by her parents, Charles and Margaret McConnell, sister Margaret McConnell Chapman, brother Charles McConnell (Sonny), daughter Lynda Gayle Pilgreen and her husband Tommy, and great grandson Adam Keeton.
We wanted to give all of Florence’s family and friends an opportunity to visit her one last time here on earth, but due to Covid19, we have decided to wait until after this crisis is over and have a “Celebration of Life”, hopefully in the Spring when the danger of infection has passed. We will let everyone know the details once we finalize arrangements. In honor of Florence, you may send donations to The Alzheimer’s Association. Florence was appreciated, cherished, loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
