Dr. Frances D Hamilton

Dr. Frances Dew Hamilton age 79, passed away on July 25, 2016. She is preceded in death by her husband, Royer Taylor Hamilton, Jr. She is survived by Col. Charles T. Hamilton and (Wendy Easley); grandchildren, Taylor Stewart Hamilton, Preston Hartwell Hamilton, and Talley Ann Hamilton.

Dr. Hamilton was a loving mother and devoted wife. She was a graduate of Judson College and the University of Georgia where she studied history. A lifelong historian, she taught in the Department of History at Samford University and later served as the Executive Director of the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission. Dr. Hamilton continued her passion for Higher Education through service on the Judson College Board of Trustees. Additionally, she used her musical talents as the pianist for the First Baptist Church of Trussville for more than 25 years. She is a member of numerous honorary, professional and private organizations, including the Colonial Dames of America and the Daughters of the American Revolution. A true Judson girl, she would wish that those desiring to make a donation in lieu of flowers, make a donation through the Judson College Blessed Light Campaign at Judson.edu. Her family will receive friends on Thursday, July 28, 2016 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Ridout's Trussville Chapel. Funeral services will be at First Baptist Church Trussville Friday July 29, 2016 at 2:00 pm. Burial will be at Trussville City Cemetery.
