

Georgia Diane Scott (née Wall) passed away peacefully at home on September 2, 2024, in Hoover, Alabama. She was born on April 9, 1947, in Birmingham, and grew up to be a vibrant and strong-spirited woman who loved her family, friends, and life in general. Georgia pursued her education diligently, attending Central Park Elementary School, and then graduated from Ensley High School. She went on to earn both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Education, both from the University of Alabama.
Georgia's life was marked by her zest and passion for adventure, which saw her traveling extensively across Europe, Asia and elsewhere. She was fortunate enough to visit many amazing places over the years. She always loved beautiful beaches, especially her favorite beach in Shipyard Plantation on Hilton Head Island. She loved Hilton Head Island and spent many wonderful times in her vacation home there. An avid reader and lover of all things Disney, she cherished the moments spent socializing with her family and friends. Georgia and Bill were members of Valleydale Baptist Church in Hoover, where she enjoyed attending Sunday School and the community they provided. Georgia had many friends and she loved spending time shopping, traveling, and gathering together. One of her favorite things to do was to get together with her wonderful friends in her neighborhood, Southlake Estates, to play Bunco.
She also was a lifetime fan of the University of Alabama and especially, the Alabama football team…Roll Tide.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, William James Scott (Bill); children, William Scott, and Tara Scott McClure and her husband (Scott McClure) of Alpharetta, GA; a brother, David Wall (and his wife Darlene); a grandson, Hunter Scott; and cousin, Mary Dean Rose of Starkville, MS. She will also be fondly remembered by her nieces, Ashley Wall Cronmiller, Kristen Wall Face, and Laura Wall Carpenter; and her grand fur babies, Walter, Ernie, and Goosey.
Georgia was preceded in death by her loving parents, Betty Jackson Wall and George Wall.
Friends and family are invited to the Receiving of Friends on Thursday, September 5th from 4-7 pm at Elmwood Chapel, Birmingham, AL. The funeral service will be held at the same location on Friday, September 6th at 2 pm. Flowers are welcome or if you prefer, we ask for contributions to be made in her name to your favorite animal rescue.
