Harrell Lee Jenkins, March 17, 1945 ~ September 19, 2024 Harrell Lee Jenkins of Vestavia, AL died 09-19-24. A native of Alabama, he was born in 1945. Mr. Jenkins was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 42 years, Joan Mitchell Jenkins, his mother, Jenifer Mildred Lawhon Hammeal, his father, Harrell Lavert Jenkins, and his sister, Mildred (Mimi) Jenifer Jenkins Lipka.
Mr. Jenkins grew up in the Birmingham area and attended Ramsey High School. He graduated from French Camp Academy, MS class of '64.
Mr. Jenkins served in Vietnam from 1968-1969 with the US Army.
Lee was active member of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension. He was always the first to show up with his tools to help with any project the Church needed. He was a master wood craftsman, fixer, and builder of all things.
A consummate entertainer, Lee Jenkins lived life to the fullest. To say he was larger than life is an understatement. Known to most as Lee, he was also known as "Leroy," as Dad, Daddy, Grandaddy, and Funny Guy to his children and grandchildren. He was a devoted and loyal friend to many, many people. He and his friends enjoyed his weekly visits during which they shared many laughs and memories together.
He is survived by his 3 children Brandi Leigh Jenkins Jackson, Amber Lee Jenkins Caponi (Jason), Mitchell Christopher Jenkins (Michaila) and his 5 grandchildren Chance Lanier Jackson, Cooper-Mattison Jackson, Alessandra Marie Caponi, Michael Valentino Caponi and Rosalie Luna-Faye Anderson and his beloved nieces and nephews and cousins.
The service will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension on Saturday 10/19/24 @ 11:00 am followed by burial service at Elmwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to French Camp Academy, the National Scleroderma Foundation, or a favorite charity.
