Hester Jo Wills of Bluff Park passed away February 13, 2017. She was born on July 13, 1971 at Tripier Military Hospital on the Island of Oahu, Hawaii. She was a graduate of Vestavia Hills High School and the University of Alabama, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. She subsequently earned a Masters Degree in Public and Private Management from Birmingham-Southern College. While in high school and college, she was a member of the Debate Teams and won multiple awards, on both the State and National Level, for her debating skills. Hester spent her entire career in leadership positions in the banking industry in Birmingham and was a Certified Internal Auditor. She was a member of Chapel in the Pines Presbyterian Church and was an ordained Elder, where she served a term as Clerk of the Session, one of the youngest Elders to ever hold that post at Chapel. In years past, she was a frequent volunteer on Mission Trips, both domestically and in Mexico. Her warm smile was contagious and her caring and genuine demeanor made her a pleasure to be with. She was huge Alabama Football fan and she loved to watch a good standup comedian almost as much as she enjoyed watching the Big Bang Theory. Most of all, her heart was filled with pride for her two nephews who survive her, Wills Dunham and Pearce Dunham. She is also survived by her parents, Clyde and Sue Wills; one sister, Kim Dunham; grandmother Violet Hester Hopping; Uncles and Aunts, Jack and Kaaren Hopping and Jeff and Vicky Hopping; her God sisters Sarah and Kate Lawrence and their parents, Jack and Marie Lawrence; special great aunt Bettye; numerous cousins and her two beloved dogs, Presley and Dixie. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017 at Elmwood Chapel at 2:00 P.M. with visitation from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. A brief graves ide service will follow at the family plot in Elmwood Cemetery. The funeral service will be led by Reverend Dana Waters. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial gifts be made in Hester's honor to Chapel in the Pines Mission Team, 2269 Chapel Road, Hoover, AL 35226.
