COPELAND, HOBERT EMORY, age 92 of Birmingham, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2021. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Evelyn Horton Copeland; parents, George and Lula Copeland; brothers, Elton Copeland and Welton Copeland; sisters, Evelyn Copeland Vines and Eldora Copeland Timmerman. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Copeland Williamson (Dale); son, Edward Copeland (Janna); sister, Alma Ruth Copeland Thomas; grandchildren, Karah Copeland Parker, Rebecca Copeland, Tami Williamson Jones (Chris) and Timothy Williamson (Dana); great-grandchildren, Vivian Elizabeth Parker, Copeland Grace Parker, Scout Marie Parker, Lauren Jones Wagner (Matt), Sarah Beth Jones, Evan Williamson and Ethan Williamson; and many nieces, nephews, sister-in-law, Lorene Adams. Hobert grew up in Blount County between Oneonta and Blountsville where he attended Blount County Schools. He volunteered to join his brothers fighting in WWII but was rejected due to being too young. He worked at various jobs as a teenager including cutting timber and farming. He married Marie Horton on June 7, 1947 and supported his family working in the trucking business retiring in 1986 after 37 years of service. In his retirement years Hobert and Marie enjoyed traveling. He also enjoyed playing his guitar, fishing, and going to the lake. He was a member of the Royal Community Church for more than 40 years. His family will receive friends on Saturday, February 20, 2021 from 1-2 PM at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel service beginning at 2 PM. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
