Ima Jean "Jeannie" Perran Rodgers, of Hoover, Alabama, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, at the age of 78. Born in Gadsden, Alabama, on October 20, 1946, Jeannie was the beloved daughter of the late R. Hariles Perran, Sr., and Ima Conner Perran.
Jeannie was a graduate of Emma Sansom High School in Gadsden. She dedicated many years to Harsco Corporation, working there from 1985 until her retirement in 1999. In her leisure time, Jeannie found great joy and satisfaction in the beauty of her garden and had a keen eye for interior decorating, creating warm and inviting spaces.
She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 26 years, William "Bill" M. Rodgers, Jr., who will deeply miss her companionship and love. Jeannie was a devoted mother to her children: John Lee Chesnut III; Clint Brandon Chesnut; Stephen M. Rodgers; and David Michael Rodgers (Tina). Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Christopher Lee Chesnut; Kendall Chesnut; Cade Chesnut (Savannah); Carsen Chesnut; Blake Rodgers; Gage Rodgers (Kristen); and Breanna Dunn (Austin). She was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Camden Cook; Kaitlyn Chesnut; Evan Chesnut; Ryver Dunn; and Maelyn Dunn.
Jeannie is also survived by her sisters, Sandra Mabrey and Lisa Perran, as well as her niece, Amy Clough (Barry). She was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond H. Perran, Jr. Jeannie's warm spirit and love for her family will be dearly remembered by all who knew her.
A visitation will be held at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel (800 Dennison Ave SW Birmingham, AL 35211) on Monday, May 12, 2025, from 1:00 – 2:00 pm with a service beginning at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery & Mausoleum. After the burial, a reception will take place at Elmwood Chapel.
