

Knight, Jackson Sheffield, born on February 14, 1921 in Dothan, AL, died on May 16, 2013 in Birmingham, AL. Graduated from Dothan High School and became an Eagle Scout. He entered military service in 1940, served in the U.S. Army as an expert rifleman. He was involved in the Philippine Liberation and also served as bandsman (baritone horn). He was honorably discharged in January 1946. He attended Howard College (now Samford University) and Auburn University with a membership in The National Honor Society. In 1953 he married Joyce Linderman. He worked for the U. S. Postal Service for over 30 years. He was a charter member of the Roebuck Seventh-Day Adventist Church. He and 159 dedicated members supported the building of the present church. It was his joy to serve as Head Elder, Head Deacon, Sabbath School Teacher, church treasurer, school board chairman, and pathfinder leader. He was looking forward to the second coming of Jesus Christ. He will be greatly missed! He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lila Knight; brother, John C. Knight. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Linderman Knight; son, Stanley (Valeri) Knight; daughter, Suzanne (Brian) Roach; grandchildren, Ryan (Jaclyn) Knight, Robin Knight, Ross Knight, Jeffrey (Rochelle) Roach, and John Roach; great grandson, Jackson Kenneth Knight. Visitation will be Monday, May 20, 2013 from 5 PM until 7 PM at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel. Funeral service will be Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 2 PM at Roebuck Seventh Day Adventist Church. Interment will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. Officiating, will be, Elder Stanley Knight, Dr. Charles Ferguson, Elder Victor Vaughn, and Elder Larry Owens.
