Jesse Marvin Jackson, Jr. age 74 of Steele, Alabama died on December 26, 2015. Mr. Jackson passed away in his home at 4:00 A.M. after a battle with heart disease. Mr. Jackson was a police sergeant with the Birmingham Police Department, retiring in 1986 after 22 years of service. He was born in Wylam, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his mother Edith Jackson; father Jesse Jackson, SR.; sisters Jane Greene and Ruth Fallon. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Verna Jackson; son Jay Jackson (Laurie); grandson Luke Jackson; sisters Anne Wesley and Faye Smith and brother-in-law W.C. Embrey. Visitation will be at Elmwood Chapel Funeral Home on Wednesday December 30, 2015 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. with funeral services following at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.
