Jessie M. Matthews

Jessie Mae Matthews age 94, born January 18, 1931, died peacefully on Saturday morning, August 16,2025.  She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Marion Edward (Ed) Matthews, who also died on August 16. She is also preceded in death by her mother and father and two sisters and two brothers.

Jessie was a loving wife and wonderful mother, a true servant at heart. She was a wonderful cook and baker and loved nothing more than feeding and spending time with her family.  She leaves behind three children, Denise Boshell (Mike), Kim Farrar (Rick) and Jeff Matthews (Cindy).  She also leaves behind her adoring grandchildren; Amy Boothe (Jim), Ashley McCombs (Shawn), Adrian Thomas (Phillip), Matt Farrar (Natalie). Giancarlo Puerto (Allana) and Anthony Matthews.  She has 8 precious great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren who all adore and love Granny with all their hearts.  Her great legacy of love will live on in her family who will miss her tremendously. She was a longtime member of South Roebuck Baptist Church and then First Baptist Church of Trussville.

A Graveside Service for Jessie will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 10:00am at Elmwood Cemetery, 600 Martin Luther King Jr Drive, Birmingham, Alabama 35211.
