John Brandon “JB” Sawyer, 51, passed away on September 26, 2022. John or JB as his mother affectionately called him, was born on October 20, 1970 to Robert and Carol Sawyer in Birmingham, Alabama. He attended Glenn Iris Baptist and Oak Grove High School.
John was a diesel mechanic for 25 years. He worked at Volvo/Nextran until his death. John had many passions in his life, but none were more important than his two boys, Tyler and Brodie (who he named after Alabama quarterbacks). Neither of the boys played football, but he didn’t care because they enjoyed everything else that he loved. He was an avid Alabama football fan. He also loved skateboarding, mountain bike riding, the ocean, being outdoors, music (his favorite band was Tool), his hot rod red car. He loved making he and the boys bug out bags and prepping. A favorite pastime for he and the boys was to go to downtown Birmingham to learn how to skateboard. He taught them to never be afraid and to be good to people, to just be good boys. He was a giving person, literally giving the shoes off his feet to give to you if you needed them. He was ready for anything and had everything he needed to do anything, and he took great pride in that. He had so many passions and so many things that he wanted to do, although he rarely spoke of them. He had a way of making everything he owned look cooler, he had to always put his personal touch on them. He loved to mess with people and to make them laugh. He was a very funny guy. He knew so many things and would study and work hard to achieve his goals. He could do anything and survive anywhere. He will be greatly missed and his family will find it hard to do life without him.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Carol Sawyer; grandfather, John L. Rogers; uncles, Mike and Tim Rogers; grandfather, John Sawyer; grandmother, Mildred Sawyer; grandfather in-law, Wayne Hayes; and brother in-law, Blake Brasher. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, Misty Sawyer and their sons, Tyler Wayne Sawyer and Brodie Evans Sawyer; grandmother, Peggy Rogers; aunt, Brenda; uncle, David; cousins, Stacy, Matt, and Lauren; father and mother in-law, O’Neal and Wanda Brasher; grandmother, Jewel Hayes; niece, Gabriel Brasher; and sister in-law, Dawn and her children, Jacob, Ally, and Josie.
