

Joseph “Joe” Edward Locascio went home to be with the Lord on June 10, 2023 surrounded by his family. Joe was born on September 16, 1936 to the late Concha and Samuel Locascio. Joe was preceded in death by his brother Phillip Locascio. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Marie Stahmer Locascio; his children Katherine Glaze (Alan), Michael Locascio, Joseph Locascio, and Mary Hann (Tommo); his grandchildren Elizabeth Sturma, Christopher Sturma, Joseph Sturma, Emilee Glaze, Madeline Locascio, Sofia Locascio, Vivian Locascio, Allie Adams (Stan), Mary Katherine Horst (Garrett); his great-grandchildren; sisters Patsy Williams (Jimmy) and Joyce Fleming; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Joe will always be remembered as a kind, generous, and driven man, with a gentle heart and stubborn mouth. He loved the Lord with his whole heart and his family just as much. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a devout Catholic and member of the Knights of Columbus and attended church at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. Joe loved watching Auburn football, playing racquetball, golfing with friends, and spending time with his family. He was also a member of the Touchdown Club. He loved John Carroll Catholic High School and served on the board for 16 years. Joe was a driven business owner and employee and was a member of the Associated Grocers of the South. Joe was also a veteran of the Air National Guard of Alabama and the Reserve of the United States Air Force.
The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 from 10am until 11am in the Maple Room at Johns Ridout's Elmwood Chapel located at 800 Dennison Ave. SW Birmingham, AL. 35211. The graveside service will follow at 11am in Elmwood Cemetery BLK#29 located at 600 Martin Luther King Dr. Birmingham, AL. 35211 with military honors. Father Fallon will be officiating.
