Josephine Mooney Hornsby, 84, of Trussville, AL went to be with her Lord on April 7, 2018. She was born to the late J.D. Sr. and Minnie Viola Mooney on January 22, 1934 in Tallassee, AL. Affectionately known as "Jo" or "Mamaw", she was preceded in passing by her brother J.D. Mooney Jr., sister Elouise Bishop, and her twin brother Joseph Mooney. She is survived by her husband of 64 1/2 years, Roy L. Hornsby; children Bobby Hornsby (Susan), David Hornsby (Clair), Tim Hornsby (Shiree), and Kim Kimbrough (Kal); brother, Luther Mooney; sister-in-law, Annie Merle Mooney; grandchildren Mandy Catrett (Sam), Matt Hornsby (Aleicia), Tucker Hornsby (Savannah), Abby Hornsby, Ben Hornsby (Jana), Todd Hornsby (Katie), Olivia Hornsby, Harrison Hornsby, Hayden Hornsby, K.J. Kimbrough, and Kylee Kimbrough; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Jo loved the Lord and loved her family. She was a prayer warrior who enjoyed reading her Bible and quoting scripture. She enjoyed spending time with Roy after his retirement and loved their large family gatherings. Jo will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 11, 2018 from 9:30 am - 11:00 am at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church, Trussville, AL. Service will follow at 11:00 am. Burial at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East.
