Julia Anne Hardy, 83, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, in Thorsby, Alabama. Born on July 1, 1942, in Atlanta, Georgia, Julia lived a full and vibrant life marked by deep love for her family and an enduring zest for the simple joys of everyday living.
For over three decades, Julia dedicated herself to her work as a medical transcriptionist. Her career spanned 31 years—a testament to her diligence and commitment to precision in a field that required both skill and attention to detail.
Julia was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is lovingly remembered by her son Barry Mitchell; daughter Linda Beth Cherry and her husband Arnold; grandchildren Daniel Mitchell and Amber Mitchell; and great-granddaughter Makenzy Mitchell. Her family was the center of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son Brian Mitchell in September 1990 and her brother William “Bill” Thaxton Hardy Jr. in June 2009. Their memories remained close to her heart throughout her life.
Julia had a passion for life that radiated through everything she did. She found joy in camping trips under the stars, painting with creativity and care, tending to her garden—especially her cherished daylilies—and filling her home with the sounds of church gospel and classic country music. Music brought her comfort and connection, often serving as the backdrop to many treasured family moments.
A true people person at heart, Julia never met a stranger. Whether striking up conversations at Waffle House or sharing stories while thrifting—one of her favorite pastimes—she had a gift for making others feel welcome. Her talent for finding hidden treasures while thrifting was unmatched; it became both a hobby and an art form that she pursued with enthusiasm.
In earlier years, Julia loved traveling with her family, creating memories that would be fondly recalled for decades. Her adventurous spirit and warm personality left lasting impressions on all who knew her.
Julia Anne Hardy will be deeply missed by those who were fortunate enough to know and love her. May her memory bring comfort to all whose lives she touched.
