Karl M Smith

Karl Meyer Smith formerly of Birmingham, Alabama passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at the age of 90. Mr. Smith was a graduate of Bessemer High School, a longtime member of Wilsons Chapel United Methodist Church in Roebuck, and served his country proudly as a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Ann Ryan Smith; their daughters, Deborah Ann (infant) and Janice Lynn Bishop; a grandchild, J.W. Henderson; and great grandchild, Jonathan Harris.

Mr. Smith is survived by his daughter, Diane (Larry) Layfield; Beloved Grandchildren, Paul (Kara) Henderson of Trussville, AL., Wes (Melissa) Hughes of Spanish Fort, AL., and Debra (Cameron) Harris of Moody, AL.; great grandchildren, Logan Henderson, Jared Henderson, Alicia Harris, Parker Dodd, Brady Dodd, David Hughes, Ryan Hughes and Jani Hughes; and a host of nieces and nephews.

There will be a visitation on Tuesday evening at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel from 5 to 7 pm. Graveside services will be Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Bessemer, AL. beginning at 11:00 am.
