Lawrence Pete C Ford

FORD, LAWRENCE CHAFFIN “PETE”, age 87, of Birmingham, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Daisy Leonard Ford; sons, Peter Ford (Leslie) and Randy Ford (Donna); 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Ruth Smith; and many nephews and nieces. He was born on February 10, 1925 in Tarrant City, graduated from Jefferson County High School in 1942 and Birmingham Southern College in 1945. A veteran of WWII, he taught school at Mortimer Jordan High, Tarrant High, and Pensacola High School. Pete then went into civil service working for U.S. Railway Mail Service, the U.S. Postal Service, and Social Security Administration. He was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church (formerly 76th St.) where he taught Sunday School for 35 years. After retirement, he attended Jefferson State Junior College. His family will receive friends on Friday, January 25, 2013 from 5-7 PM at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel. There will be a graveside service on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Forest Hill Cemetery beginning at 11 AM with Richard Trucks officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Presbyterian Childrens Home.
