Lee Sam Maniscalco passed away peacefully at home with God's Grace and surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, July 2, 2020. Lee was preceded in death by his parents Sam & Josephine Maniscalco, his brothers, Paul Maniscalco, Sam Maniscalco Jr., his sisters, Lorine Alesci, Josephine Passantino and Susie Carpenter. He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife for 70 years, Anna Rose Marino Maniscalco, his children, Sal (Anita) Maniscalco, Dr. Michael Maniscalco and Lee Ann (Ronnie) Bruno, three grandchildren Chris (Dawn) Maniscalco, Dr. Lee (Dr. Chelsea) Maniscalco and Gregory Bruno, two great grandchildren Ellee and Easton Maniscalco. His brother, Charlie (Dorothy) Maniscalco and sister-in-law, Constance Maniscalco. Lee grew up in North Birmingham attending St. Mark's Catholic Church, he played football for St. Paul's Catholic School and John Carroll Catholic High School where he was in the first graduating class of 1948. He married the love of his life, Anna Rose Marino and they were long time members of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ensley where they helped build the new church and school. There he was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and Lecturer. Lee, being an entrepreneur, was founder and president of Birmingham Box Company for many years. Lee and his wife, Anna Rose, transformed the business to Central Camper and Tire Inc. and the tradition still continues by his son Sal and grandson Chris. Lee was very well respected in the Ensley Community and the business remains a local landmark. His faith was very strong and raised his children the same. Lee was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church for 42 years. He lived a full and wonderful life with family and friends. A very hard working man and most generous to all. Lee and Anna Rose loved Alabama football and traveled many games even until his 80s. He had a passion for golf, dance and music. He always greeted everyone with his name, a beautiful smile with his signature laugh and always had a joke at hand. A stranger, he never met, even to the end of life. Family would like to thank his care givers during the last year of his life to Eric Stanley, Vivian White, Jasmine and Jimmesha Williams. A huge thanks to June Helsley his personal nurse and the Oasis Hospice team and a special thanks to ALL of Our Lady of Sorrows Priests. Our sincere gratitude to them all.
