Passed away on October 10th at the age of 94. Mrs. Keith was the daughter of Mary Etta Abercrombie and Andrew Cornelius Lee and she was the 13th of 14 siblings. She is predeceased by her parents, all of her brothers and sisters, her husband, William Howard Keith, her daughter, Peggy Hare, and a granddaughter, Laura Robertson.
Mrs. Keith was born in Eden and grew up in St. Clair County but lived most of her life in Irondale. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church, Irondale, and was very active in her Sunday School Class. She was an employee of Birmingham Trust National Bank, for 22 years, retiring in March of 1979. She has lived with her daughter in North Shelby County for the past few years. She was “adopted” into the homebound ministry of Lakeside Baptist Church and the family wishes to thank Wanda Billings, Mary McCulley, and especially Martha Acton, all members of Lakeside Baptist, for the regular visits, prayers, and thoughtful attention they gave her.
Mrs. Keith is survived by her daughter, Judy Brashier (Clyde), her grandchildren, Leigh Ann Mitchell(Steve), Hixson, TN, Keith Brashier, Birmingham, Craig Brashier(Kimberly), Plano, TX, Karen Claypool (Tom), Linda Hitt (David), Beth St. John, grandson-in-law Roger Robertson, all of Virginia, and great grandchildren Lily Grace and Stevie Mitchell, Hunter Brashier, Joshua Claypool, Brandon Robertson, Christopher Hitt, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. The family is so grateful to her special nephew, Bill Jarrett, for all the love, help, and kindness he gave to Lillian throughout the years.
Lillian was a warm, affectionate, and kindhearted person who was devoted to her family. Although she was widowed at a young age, she willingly worked hard and made many sacrifices to provide a good life for her daughters without complaining or self-pity. She loved children and never missed an opportunity to visit with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved reading stories, playing games, and playing dolls with them. She also loved to cook for her family, and her special Christmas fudge and sausage balls will be missed by all. She was always cheerful and fun, and willing to help. She loved to talk and visit with family and friends and was a great listener as well. Every aspect of her life was an example of her love for her Lord and Savior. Her family rejoices in the knowledge that Lillian is now in heaven, in the presence of the Lord and in the company of all of her loved ones who have gone on before her.
Dr. Earl Tew will be officiating the funeral service at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel. Visitation will be on Friday, October 14 from 12:30 pm until service time at 2:00 pm. Internment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
