
Lois Albright of Birmingham, Alabama passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 26, 2016. She was born Mary Lois Reynolds on September 14, 1927 in Berea KY the only beloved daughter of Alvin and Lucy Reynolds with six older brothers; Ernest, Everett, William, James, Homer, and Cecil Reynolds. Mrs. Albright was a civic leader, education activist and volunteer focused on improving the lives of those in the Bluff Park area of Hoover since the late 1950s. She was instrumental in bringing quality of life improvements to the Bluff Park community. She was a founder of the Bluff Park Art Association, Shades Cliff Pool Association, Shades Mountain Ballpark, and served as President of the Jefferson County PTA. She helped write the grant that established the Alabama School of Fine Arts when she recognized the need for educating artistic children. Lois was an active leader and long-time member of Chapel in the Pines Presbyterian Church. As Lois Reynolds, she graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a teaching degree and went on to teach all ages in rural eastern Kentucky. Lois is survived by her son Jeffrey Reynolds Albright and daughter Beth Albright Johns (Keith) and grandchildren Daniel, Sam, Noah, Grace, and Alec Albright, Eric Johns; and Jillian Boorman (Kris). She was equally blessed with wonderful daughters-in-law (Donna Green and Donna Baugh), new and lifelong friends and neighbors. She is preceded in death by her husband Warren Neal, daughter Melanie Jo, son Benton Neal, and granddaughter Adrienne Allison Albright. She enjoyed birdwatching, music, painting and creating throughout her lifetime and her recent illness. The family would like to extend appreciation for her last wishes and care being fulfilled by Alacare and Home Instead and the countless visitors and friends who supported her and family. In lieu of flowers and in support of things she loved, the family would like you to consider a donation in her name to the Bluff Park Art Association or the Birmingham Audubon Society. There will be a graveside service at Elmwood Cemetery On Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. and a Memorial Service celebrating her life at Chapel in The PinesPresbyterian Church in beautiful Bluff Park on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 with a visitation at 1:00 p.m. followed by a service and music at 2:00p.m .
