Lulleen M. “Lully” Rhodes, 55 died at home on Thursday, June 7, 2012. She worked in the accounting field at various financial institutions. She enjoyed reading and music, especially Bruce Springsteen. She was very passionate about things in which she believed. Lully’s life was changed for the better when her great nephew, Austin Thornton was born. She found what it truly meant to love when he came into her life. When his sister, Sierra Thornton came along, her love doubled. In 2004 her cousin, Mary Woolard gave her a chance at a better life by giving her one of her kidneys. She was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, two brothers-in-laws, one niece, and Abraham Lincoln. She is survived by her parents, Joe and Ethel “Red” Rhodes; brother Pat (Pam) Rhodes of Birmingham; sisters, Cyndee Brodie of Knoxville, TN, Kelly Rhodes of Birmingham; very special friends, Richard Ferguson and Rita Pope; six nieces and nephews and 10 great nieces and nephews. In honor of Lully’s love of wearing hats, we are asking that everyone wear a hat to her service, which will be held Sunday, June 10, 2012 at Elmwood Chapel at 2:00 pm with Dr. David Valenzulea presiding and visitation beginning at 1:00 pm. There will be no graveside service as Lully hated the outdoors
