
HILLMAN, MARION G. age 92, of Remlap passed on August 18, 2011. She was a past member of Hueytown First Methodist Church, a current member of Lee's Chapel Methodist Church, and also enjoyed fellowship with Pleasant Mount Baptist Church. She was a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be greatly missed and never forgotten. She was preceded in death by her father, Walter F. Gammon, and her mother, Rose Haik Gammon and her loving husband of 44 years, Howard C. Hillman. Survivors include sons, James Michael Hillman (Sue), John Howard Hillman (Brenda) and a daughter, Pamela Ann Carnes(Tim); grandchildren, Jeff Hillman (Kim), Tyler Hillman (Theresa), Joshua Hillman (Pam) Kimberly Vance (Paul), Christopher and Matt Thrasher, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and a nephew. Mrs. Hillman worked as a legal secretary in the Bessemer area for many years and became the first lady bailiff in the Jefferson County Court System. She served in this capacity in the court of the Honorable Gardner F. Goodwyn, Jr. until her retirement in April of 1979. Mrs. Hillman volunteered as acting City Clerk during the incorporation process for the City of Hueytown; she was also a member of the Hueytown Garden Club, the Alabama Legal Secretarial Association, the Business and Professional Women's Association, and the Pine Mountain Homemakers Club. Mrs. Hillman loved her Pine Mountain Community and was presented a Lifetime Service Award in 2006 by the Pine Mountain Community. Graveside Service will be held Monday August 22, 2011 at Elmwood Cemetery at 12:00 noon, visitation one hour prior, at Ridout's Elmwood Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association , the National Alzheimer's Association , or above churches or Pine Mountain Community Volunteer Fire Department.
